A series of drawings depicting invented narratives with a colour palette reminiscent of Hype Williams early work. This series began with my interest in the expectation and common understanding that in order to succeed — you have to give your all. What followed and became critical to the process was the question of not giving your all; to be unavailable and even unlikeable. This series of works reflect how risking not being liked is vulnerable in itself. In other words, Confrontation was her style is a show about the sacrifices and promises we make as we negotiate our presence.

”Confrontation was her style” is a quote from the The Salt Eaters by Toni Cade Bambara (1980).
